FROM THE GRAND KNIGHT
The Last Message from our Grand Knight, Bill Krivanek

Dear Brother Knights:

When I received the September issue of the Texas Knight, a line on the front page caught my eye—Knights of Columbus"…a Catholic, Family, Fraternal, Service organization."

My dictionary defines Catholic as a member of the ancient, undivided Christian Church; a member of any modern church that forms part of the Universal Christian Church.

Fraternal is listed as having to do with brothers or a brother; of or being a society of men associated in brotherly union, as for mutual aid benefit.  Service is an act of helpful activity; the supplying of any articles, commodities; activities required or demanded.  Organization is a state of manner of being organized.

All of these ingredients make up Columbianism.  We challenge all our brother Knights to join in making our Council the embodiment of all of these characteristics.  Not tomorrow, but today is the time to put your good intentions into positive action.  Don't Delay.  Be aware of the urgency to be an active Knight in your Council.  We need your input, your imagination, your initiative in making 759 the leader as well as the Mother Council in the North Texas Metroplex.  Take up the challenge!

              Fraternally,
              Bill Krivanek, Grand Knight

Grand Knight Bill Krivanek passed away on Saturday, October 6, 1984.  funeral Mass was held in St. Patrick's Cathedral on Tuesday, October 9.  Internment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

ANNUAL DIOCESAN PARTY FOR NUNS
Thirty-seven Nuns from the Fort Worth Diocese, one from St. Louis, MO, and one from San Antonio met at the hall of Council 759 on Saturday, Nov. 17 for the 19th Annual Party sponsored by the Knights of Msgr. Nolan Council.  These parties have developed from an idea of Mr. And Mrs. James F. Roach 19 years ago.

"Mama" and "Papa" Roach greeted nuns from several Orders including Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, Sisters of the Incarnate Word, and Sisters of Charity.  Mrs. Polly Davidson was at the guest book.

Games and prizes were planned by District Deputy Joe Rutkowski, Grand Knight Ray Vela and Deputy Grand Knight Hector Diaz.  Each Sister received an individual gift, and the game prizes included portable radios, umbrellas, travel bags, watches, and cash.  Sister Rose Ann of the Sisters of St. Mary was the oldest nun present, and sister Maria Martinez of Guadalupana Sisters was the youngest participant.

To add to the festivities, a double holiday theme was carried out with poinsettias in the foyer, and paper turkeys and pumpkins and Autumn leaves centering the serving tables.  Salads, finger sandwiches, cookies and punch were offered by Gloria Vela, Jean Minch, Jean Knapp, Maggie Rappich, Ida Diaz, Lucy Galvan, Very Herrera, Mirta Cruz, Lamoyne Rutowski, and Leola Hunter.

The Sisters remarked that, although their number is somewhat smaller than in years past, they look forward to this event each year.  It gives them a chance to get together, away from the classrooms and the hospital halls, to spend a few hours "catching up" on what has happened in the various religious orders since they last met.
