The above is an expression of tribute from the business men of the City of Fort worth regarding one of our members.  In a way it is in praise of the Knights of Columbus as well, for we are the sponsors of Troop No. 32 and have been for all of the same 43 years.  Below is a personal tribute to the "Ol Man" from one of his former Scouts:

"TRIBUTE TO OL MAN GILLESPIE

Thanks Ol Man. Thanks for all that you have done over the years for me—and all the thousands of other boys and young men with whom you've been associated.  Today perhaps more than at any other time during your scouting careeer there is a driving need for the love and understanding, the guidance and the influence that you have given so generously to so many.

Thanks for all the good times we've had and thanks for the chance that you gave to me and to so many others to develop the character, the self reliance, and the respect and love for others that you have so aptly shown.  Indeed a boy could have no better friend than you.

SAD NEWS
Our Charter will be draped for thirty days in memory of two of our dear departed brothers:  James Andrew Cecil and Stan M. Fenelon.  Thanks to James Merrill, John Scarich, John Bamber, William Cicherski, Lee Reese, Jr. and Mike Hart who served as pallbearers.  Brother Fenelon was the son of the first Grand Knight of council 759, T.P. Fenelon.  He served as Grand Knight in 1903.

We were sad to hear of the recent passing of Mrs. George Nimeth, Irvington, N.J., the sister of Mike Smerick.

In your kindness please remember them in your prayers.  Also, two recent deaths have occurred in the Lavy family.  Our deepest sympathy is hereby extended to Dennis and Marie Lavy.

THE INTERIM KNIGHT/SEPTEMBER 1971
STAR COUNCIL CERTIFICATE
We have just received another beautiful trophy.  This one from the Supreme Council in New Haven, Conn. For gaining the Star Council rating in the Six Point Program.  This will be treasured greatly, not alone for the amount of effort in achieving it, but also because it will be the last under the old Six Point Program.  It takes a lot of doing to become a Star Council.  My hat is off to all of those chairmen serving during the past year who made it possible.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAPLAIN
The Second Vatican Council emphasized the importance of the Priesthood of the Laity.

The Priesthood of the Laity is not something that originates with the Second Vatican council.  It goes back to the beginning of the Church.  St. Peter addressed the lay people of his day, calling them "A chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart."

As a consequence of the new emphasis on the Priesthood of the Faithful, our religious services have been drastically changed.  The Mass is now offered, and the sacraments administered, in the vernacular, so that the laity can more easily share in the liturgy, and participate in an intelligent way.

The question is, though, how conscious are lay people of this privilege and duty of "Priesthood"?  How concerned are they?  The least they can do is take a devout and attentive part in the Mass; use the missalette and pray long; conscientiously strive to offer God the praise and homage we owe Him.  God demands worship from all men.  He created us, and He has every right to expect homage and adoration from us.

But in observing some people attending Mass, especially those in the last pews in church, it is evident they are not conscious of performing any "priestly duties."  They assume an indifferent and passive attitude, even ill concealed boredom.  For them, the Mass is an evil that must be tolerated—what kin00d of homage do such people offer to God??

Through the Prophet Isiah God complained about His people:  "The ox and the ass know their master, but My people do no know Me!"—Let us make sure He  does not say that about us.—God Bless You!

            Father John, O.S.B.
