GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE – W. A. (BILL) PENINGER
Dear Sirs and Brother Knights:

It gives me great pleasure to contact each and every member of our wonderful council by this medium.

You have shown your confidence in your officers by having elected them to the various offices and I want to express our appreciation for the honor bestowed on us. It will be our high aim to continue by hard work and combined efforts to make this council the outstanding council of Texas.

To do this we must have the cooperation of each and every member and you can serve your council best by the giving of your time and abilities on the various committees on which you are requested to serve.

Remember that you are a vital part of the council and if you do not take an active part by attending the meetings and serving with your various committees chairmen we can not succeed and we will not attain the heights to which we aspire.

I know that it sometimes is an effort and a sacrifice to attend the regular weekly meetings and other council activities but a True Knight is always willing to make sacrifices for the good of the Order.

He who merely comes down to the Council home on Thursday nights and sits in the reception room while his brother Knights are in session is not a good member and surely can not be counted as a Tried and True Knight.

Let us all make a resolution that we will not "Leave it to George" this year, but get in the swim and together at the close of the fiscal year we will point with pride to the accomplishments of the greatest council in Texas, good old Monsignor Nolan Council No. 759.

              Fraternally yours,

                W. A. (Bill) Peninger,
                Grand Knight

THE KNIGHT/OCTOBER 1948
REGARDS TO VETERAN MEMBER—Michael T. Healy
Only a few short years remain for Brother Healy to commemorate his golden anniversary of admission into this Order, being admitted at Parkersburg, West Virginia, in May 1902. He was born in Swanton, Maryland, during the year 1864.  The family later moved to Piedmont, West Virginia and then to Clarksburg spending ten years in each place. While still residing in the east he became a member of the Fourth Degree in 1914, which was exemplified in Clarksburg.  He came to Fort Worth, in June 1921 and has maintained his home continuously here since that time, although his business activities required that he spend a great deal of time in West Texas, being engaged in the oil and gas business, through employment by the Honolulu Oil Corporation of California.  Brother Healy is now in his seventh year of his retirement.  His family consisted of five children, having four daughters and one son.  Bernard A. Healy is located at Odessa, Texas and like his father is engaged in the oil business.  Twin daughters are Miss Mamie Healy, Bookkeeper at The First National Bank of Fort Worth and Mrs. H. H. Hartman of Clarksburg, West Virginia.  Other daughters are Mrs. Wm. G. Berry and Mrs. E. P. Hart, Jr., of Fort Worth.  In addition to his own immediate family he also rejoices in the pleasure of eleven grandchildren.  The Council congratulates Brother Healey on his long and faithful interest in the Order and hopes that time will be generous to him and allow us to celebrate that golden anniversary with him in the not too distant future.  It is good to have members who show a steadfast interest over a long period of time such as you Brother Healey. We're proud and happy to have you with us.

THE KNIGHT/NOVEMBER 1948

Father Felderhof drives in from Cleburne every Wednesday night to roll for Team No. 2.  Brother George Sutherland recently took high individual game honors with 199.  Brother Osterhouse has 231 to lead as high game scorer.  Brother Harry Tierney leads the league with an average of 181.

WELCOME TO CLUB AND HOME
The glad hand is out to Brother Merle O'Donnell who was recently released from St. Joseph's Hospital.  It's really a pleasure to learn that he is out and have him visit again at the Club.

MEMBERS VIEW TELEVISED FOOT BALL GAME
Quite a number of football fans were on hand at the Club Rooms to enjoy front row seats while noting the Texas University vs. University of Oklahoma game over a television set furnished through the courtesy of Mel Gans.  Brother Pat Conry was referee and Brother Campion head linesman.

THE KNIGHT/DECEMBER 1948
ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY

DAVIS LAMBRIGHT DISTRICT DEPUTY MESSAGE
One of the most important thoughts for us to consider all through the year, and especially now during the season of Advent, as we await the birthday of our Blessed Lord, is our relationship with our fellow man.

Christ began His life in an obscure stable in Bethlehem, and lived it to its bitter but glorious end, culminating with His death upon the Cross, to give to all of us the opportunity of becoming inheritors with Him of His Fathers eternal Kingdom.

I believe that this Christmas time is a wonderful opportunity to think of that day, perhaps long ago or perhaps just a short time ago, when we received our degrees in the Knights of Columbus.  Remember those lessons learned that day?  Do you remember that we said to ourselves that we would never forget them?  Then remembering them, what is our relationship with our Brother Knight?  When God created man, He created Him in His image.  He did not say "John Doe" I create you in My image.  "James Roe" I do not create you in My image.  Whatever might be our personal pinion of our own importance, our wealth, our ability, our appearance, the truth still remains that the beggar, in the sight of God, is as important as the king.

Can we truthfully say that we have not allowed self-pride to enter into our relationship with our fellow man, and have always worked with him without any thought of self-gain?

Let us think of the Babe of Bethlehem and His purpose in coming to the earth.  Let us think of the individual dignity of all of us.  Let us think of our duties to our fellow man, whose destiny is as great as ours.  Let us so l live that when next Christmas comes we can all say that we have served our stewardship well as children of God, loving fathers, loyal Americans and true Knights of Columbus.

     Davis Lambright, District Deputy

COUNCIL BUYS CLUB SITE
At a recent meeting the council went on record to purchase a lot located at the corner of West 10th and Collier Streets on which to erect a new Club House.  It is a vacant site 103 by 130˝ feet in dimensions.  The purchase price is $12,000, being acquired from Miss Frances B. Darter and Mrs. Katherine D. Callan, sisters, members of a pioneer Fort Worth family.  After examination of title and all pertinent details, the deal was closed on December 5.  Building plans and construction will be under the supervision of a building committee composed of architects, contractors, builders and realty men, who are members of the council.  The present council home at 1004 Lamar was sold a few years ago to the Southwestern Greyhound Lines, but in a recent transaction was acquired by the Texas Electric Service Company.  It will be vacated as soon as the new construction will have been completed.  Negotiations are under way to draw plans and specifications as soon as possible in order that the council may move into its own quarters at an early future date.  Grand Knight Wm. A Peninger is initiating appropriate action with approval of the Trustees and council relative to construction of the new building.
